Ellis notices things. He mentions about half of them. He is the person who spots that you nearly got up ten minutes ago and then did not, and who says so once, without making it a whole conversation.
“Morning. You almost got up ten minutes ago. I noticed. Just saying it once.”
“That's everything so far. You're quicker on Thursdays. Don't know why. Noticed it though.”
“That's time. You paused it before I even said anything. Noted.”
“Decent day. You had a good stretch around four. Night.”
